Oh, Zuzana is a fantastic choice for a BFF. Anyone who’d trek through the desert for her best friend is worth having around. Plus, she’s really funny!
Agreed! She has cracked me up through two books, and I’m just saying, I would totally read a spinoff series featuring her and her wacky puppet show.
You have a number of books here that I still need to read (more than half your list). It’s nice getting all these book recs from people’s superlatives lists. I’m not sure how it didn’t occur to me that the Raven Boys would almost all be good candidates for president. Gansey, in particular, totally has that presidential quality going on. :)
I love getting recommendations via these lists! So fun :)
HA, Gansey absolutely has something of the politician in him. Though he might be too unconventional in his… hobbies and interests, LOL.
Zuzana should be everyone’s BFF.
Word.
I also picked Zuzana as my BFF because she is everything a best friend should be.
Is it bad that I want Christmas to hurry up and get here? I’m on a book buying freeze until then and there are a few books on your list that I have now added to my TBR list.
I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all!! There are few things better than books for Christmas :) I hope you get some of the ones you’re excited about!!
Yes yes yes for the Darkling!
Right??
Ooh, Zuzana’s a great choice! I can’t wait to read DAYS OF BLOOD & STARLIGHT (it’s on my Christmas wishlist).
And thanks for nominating Cate! It’s a pretty apt category, considering the events in Star Cursed and book 3… *smiles teasingly*
I love Cate! And now I am even grumpier for having to waaaaaaait!
I think you’ll love Days of Blood & Starlight! I was sort of caught off guard by how much I loved it :)
Kenji! Yes! He is so wonderful. Man, I need to re-read that before UNRAVEL ME comes out!
He was such a fun part of Shatter Me! I’m excited to see where his story goes.
Oh, Kenji! *snorts with laughter* And YES PLEASEm, to Adam. He’s probably my favourite YA book boy. <3 <3
Adam is THE BESSSSST. Sa-woon.
I haven’t read DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT yet, but I loved Zuzana so much in the first book. I wholeheartedly agree with her as a BFF pick!
She was a freaking delight in the first book, and she gets even better (IMO) in the second! Love it.
I think it’s okay because isn’t today open to any YA character? I think you just had to have read the book this year… That’s how I did mine anyway, lol.
I love Zuzanna! Haven’t read DoBaS yet, but I picked her for BFF last year for pretty much those reasons you listed. Glad to see she’s still around in Book 2 being awesome. :) You also make an excellent point about the Raven Boys. The presidency doesn’t seem that much of a far cry for them, hah.
And yessss Darkling love! I had to change the Superlative to Villain I love to Love because goodness me, he’s got his claws in me and I’m totally okay with that.
It sounds like a lot of us were way more than okay with The Darkling’s villainy, LOL! And yeah, the whole time reading about Aglionby reminded me of Skull and Bones and all those other super secret societies and things. I hope that gets explored more in future books!
I can’t WAIT to find out more about the Darkling :) I absolutely think we’ve only scratched his many layers.
Agreed!
Zazuna was my choice for that category last year!
And love your list! I can’t wait for UNRAVEL ME!
I’m pretty sure there’s no way YA boys could possibly exist in real life. Looking at everyone’s choices, and comparing that to the guys I knew in high school, it just doesn’t seem possible.
