A YA Halloween: Katniss

by sarahenni on October 25, 2011

This suggestion for a YA Halloween costume would be not only fun and comfortable, with the movie getting tons of early hype, there’s a decent chance of getting recognized by not-yet-YA-literate people. (And yes, there are only two kinds of people, the other being YA-obsessed.)

But does it really even need to be recognized? You’d be running around with an archery kit! All I’m saying is, I wish this had been an option when I was in high school, because the only comparable option then was Lara Croft, and that outfit barely has enough structural integrity to cover a computer animated chick.

I think this is a fantastic series of posts. You are brilliant. Also, yeah, I totally wish there were easy-peasy Katniss costumes back in the day. I already own half these things!

Yay! It would be a pretty fun and easy costume to throw together at the last minute!

Keep Calm and Sleep with Peeta. hehehe

Very nice ensemble though, Sarah. Seriously. Between Lola yesterday and Katniss today, I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got in store for us! :)

That “Keep Calm” is my new favorite, ever.

And THANK YOU! :D

YES I want to be Katniss for Halloween!!! I love this idea of dressing up as YA characters… oh it would be so awesome if there was a YA character spirit week day at school (haha like anyone would have costumes for that…) :D

Oh man, wouldn’t it be awesome if everyone could come as a YA character and everyone else would get it?? *dreams*

OMG! I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me. I rep YA in every other way possible. Why not at Halloween?

Unfortunately, the only black character I can think of that I could make identifiable is Rue from Hunger Games, and I’d be like Godzi-rue. I’ll have to think about it for next year.

LOL at “Godzi-Rue”! Hmmm I will definitely brainstorm some more diverse costumes for next year (I must admit that this series came out of brainstorming about what I specifically would wear, lol)

That would be amazing. I teach my English Comp class on Halloween and now I’m SO tempted to dress as Katniss and see if anyone notices!

Oooooh that would be SO FUN! They might get it if you took a nerf archery set into class and shot over everyone’s heads or something. (File under: reasons Sarah is not allowed in a classroom.)
